Randomly terms of use for browser-based picker Tools.
These terms explain the practical rules for using Randomly in a classroom, meeting, workshop, party, or everyday decision. The Tools are free, require no account, and are intended for an adult facilitator making a low-stakes shared choice.
Agreement and scope
By using Randomly, you agree to these Terms of Use and the linked Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site. An adult teacher, host, or facilitator should configure and operate classroom activities; Randomly does not invite a student to create an account or contract directly with the service.
“Tool”, “Wheel”, “Race”, “Entry”, “Winner”, “Selection”, “Template”, “Shared Setup”, and “Presentation Mode” have the meanings used across the product. The About page explains the project and the randomness explanation describes how a result is committed before its reveal.
Free service, accounts, and advertising
Randomly currently provides its public Tools without a fee, purchase, subscription, or user account. There is no paid entitlement, cloud profile, cross-device Setup library, or service-level agreement. Free availability does not promise that every Tool, Template, or feature will remain unchanged or available indefinitely.
The project may later be funded by clearly labelled advertising on approved adult/general content. Advertising does not buy a better random outcome, gate a Tool action, or change eligibility. The current advertising status and required privacy controls are described in the Privacy Policy. Presentation Mode and excluded classroom, legal, shared-link, and active-interaction surfaces remain ad-free under the current product rules.
Random results and facilitator responsibility
Randomly chooses from the eligible Entries under the active settings. It cannot determine whether the starting list is complete, lawful, consensual, accessible, or appropriate. Check Entry labels, duplicates, absence choices, exclusions, repeat rules, and context before starting. Review each result before acting on it.
Do not use a Selection or Race elimination as the sole basis for a medical, legal, financial, employment, disciplinary, safeguarding, housing, credit, prize, consent, or other high-impact decision. The Tools do not replace professional advice, institutional policy, accessibility judgment, or a fair process required by law or contract.
Entries and local saved Setups
You control the Entry labels supplied to a Tool. Use neutral labels where possible and do not enter personal records, contact details, passwords, health information, confidential notes, or sensitive student information. You are responsible for having any permission needed to use a person’s name or other content in your context.
A saved Setup uses this site’s browser storage on the current device. It is not a cloud backup. Shared or managed devices may expose saved labels to another person with access to that browser. Delete a Setup in the Tool or clear the site’s browser storage when it is no longer appropriate to keep it.
Shared Setup links
A Shared Setup places its readable configuration in the URL fragment after #. The fragment is not included in the ordinary page request, but anyone who receives the complete link may read and reuse its labels and settings. Treat the link as information you are intentionally disclosing, not as an encrypted or access-controlled file.
You are responsible for the channel and recipients you choose. Do not publish or send a Shared Setup containing confidential, unlawful, harmful, or rights-infringing material. Randomly cannot revoke a link that has already been copied; create a clean Setup and stop sharing the old link instead.
Acceptable use
Use the site lawfully and in a way that does not harm people or the service. Do not interfere with availability, bypass security controls, probe systems without authorization, impersonate another person, distribute malicious code, automate abusive traffic, manipulate ad interactions, or use the Tools to harass, discriminate, deceive, or expose someone’s private information.
Do not copy Randomly’s branding or presentation in a way that falsely implies endorsement, partnership, or ownership. Ordinary linking, browser use, and sharing of a clean Setup are permitted. External links are provided for context; their operators control their own content, availability, privacy practices, and terms.
Availability, changes, and third-party services
The Tools are provided “as is” and “as available”. Randomly does not promise uninterrupted access, error-free results, compatibility with every browser or projector, permanent storage, or fitness for a particular purpose. Networks, browsers, Cloudflare services, external links, and future advertising or consent providers can fail or change.
Randomly may repair, redesign, pause, limit, or remove a Tool or Template. Reasonable efforts are made to preserve the published interaction and privacy contracts, but you should keep a separate copy of any important Entry list and have a non-digital fallback for time-sensitive activities.
Responsibility and service limits
You remain responsible for the activity, participants, starting Entries, interpretation of a result, and any action taken afterward. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Randomly is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on a random result, loss of a local Setup, an unavailable service, a Shared Setup disclosed by its sender, or a third-party site or provider.
Nothing in these terms excludes a right or remedy that applicable law does not allow to be excluded. These terms and the Privacy Policy are plain-English operational documents, not legal, safety, educational, employment, financial, or professional advice. Owner/legal review of the exact monetization configuration remains required before live ads.
Changes, questions, and contact
Randomly may revise these terms when the product, providers, or legal obligations change. A material revision changes the effective and last-updated date below. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised terms; otherwise stop using the Tools and delete any locally saved Setups you no longer want on the device.
Randomly is an independently operated project. Questions about these terms, privacy, accessibility, or product behavior can be sent to hello@tryrandomly.com or through the Contact page. Do not include student names, Entry lists, or Shared Setup contents. Randomly does not publish a personal or legal operator name in this release.
